We have access
to a wide range of information and resources relating to the urban
environment, and we welcome enquiries from groups, organisations
and individuals interested in our work, or looking at urban issues
from women’s perspective. We are happy to give information on specific
topics relating to the following topics:
- Architecture
- Children and urban spaces
- Community participation in design
- Community safety
- Design and disability
- Housing
- Regeneration and neighbourhood renewal
- Urban design and planning
We have developed
a wide network of contacts and links with many other organisations
concerned with improving the urban environment. If we are unable
to assist directly, we can offer other sources of information and
organisations that may be able to help

Library
and Resource Centre
Our Library and Resource Centre is open to all our members during
our office hours (Monday-Friday 10.00am-5.00pm). It is a unique resource
for those wanting to research a wide range of subjects, from self-build
housing to play equipment, from City Challenge initiatives to women
and transport. We have a section dedicated to current regeneration
initiatives and a growing section of publications on housing for disabled
people. The library houses reports, theses, committee papers and pamphlets
in addition to books, periodicals and journals.
There is free
access to the internet for WDS members using the library.
Photocopying facilities are available at a reasonable cost. Please
call to make an appointment to ensure that a member of staff is
available to give access.
