Building Management Training for the Voluntary & Community Sector

From 2009 to 2011 WDS delivered training for voluntary sector building managers, as part of the Lottery-funded London Premises Project which runs to 2013 and is managed by Locality.

Aimed at anyone involved in or responsible for managing a community building, the sessions were designed to enable participants to reduce maintenance and development costs of buildings currently occupied or which participants proposed to manage, lease or purchase

Training delivered by Clare Neely BSc Eng (Hons) MRICS for WDS.

Some of the feedback received from participants:

“ Clare’s expertise as a Building Surveyor is one of the first opportunities I‘ve experienced to attend training with a particular view point on building management. It was immensely valuable to attend a session with such a wide variety of attendees with Building management responsibilities that resulted in an extremely interactive, vibrant and informative way”

“The discussions encouraged were very helpful in sharing knowledge and experience of successes and pitfalls. This is invaluable for community groups who have little ability and resources for paid training”

Partners on the project are Locality, Community Action Network, Ethical Property Foundation, Community Matters, Ealing Community Resource Centre and Aston Mansfield.
