LWPF provides a vital information network for women planning officers,
planning students, educationalists and community and voluntary organisations
involved with environment and equality issues. It aims to change
and improve the position of women in relation to planning issues;
to provide a the opportunity for women planners to share experiences
of barriers and good practice and to promote feminist thinking in
planning departments.
During
the last five years LWPF has held regular forum events and debated
a wide range of contemporary issues from a gender perspective including
urban regeneration, public surveillance systems, Unitary Development
Plans, Best Value, town centre management, public and community
art, community safety, women as planners, and planning education.
These events have been written up in the Women's Design Service
Broadsheet Series.
LWPF
is planning a new series of workshop meetings and other activities
to take it beyond the millennium. All meetings will be organised
to allow maximum time for debate in small groups and will take place
in fully accessible venues. Attendance at LWPF events can contribute
to Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
