Gender Equality & the Built Environment Training
This training is for built environment professionals- architects, designers, planners, engineers, surveyors- who want to raise their awareness of how gender should be considered in their work.
Participants will be made aware of how men & women's differing biological & societal roles affect built environment requirements, how to recognise gender inequality within the built environment & what sort of changes can be made to tackle discrimination in order to meet the requirements of the Gender Equality Duty: The legislation which requires public authorities and those providing goods or services to the public sector to eliminate sex discrimination and demonstrate promotion of gender equality.
Equal Opportunities Commission Chair Jenny Watson supports our training:
"Most women still have very different life experiences from men - the built environment looks very different if you're accompanied by small children and trying to juggle both pushing a buggy and carrying shopping bags. How our towns and cities are designed and managed has a great impact on all our lives, so it is critical that architects, planners, engineers and surveyors gain a sound understanding of gender equality. Training is a great way for built environment professionals to get to grips with new tools which can only improve the effectiveness of their work."
Our trainer will come to you for groups of up to 10, or you can come to our central London venue.
